We look forward to seeing you on ride day! Our all-volunteer crew and sponsors are focused on providing a well-supported, fun and safe event. Below are important details for ride day.

Friday Evening Packet Pick-up (Friday, February 20, 2015 from 4 pm - 7 pm)

Dexter Avenue King Memorial Legacy Center - 455 Washington Avenue - Montgomery, AL 36104

Packet Pickup is an opportunity to pick-up your T-shirt, bib number, and Goody Bag the evening before the ride on Friday, 2/20 from 4 pm - 7 pm. This will be held at the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Legacy Center located at the Northwest corner of Decatur Street and Washington Avenue at 455 Washington Ave, Montgomery AL 36104 (see www.DexterKingMemorial.org/church/legacy-center or use Google Maps). We also want to load as many bicycles as possible on Friday evening to save time with loading bicycles on Saturday morning. So, please plan to bring your bicycle(s) to the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Legacy Center on Friday evening, February 20 from 4-7 pm.

In any case, we are looking forward to see you on Friday evening, 2/20 from 4-7 for Packet Pick-up and then again on Saturday, 2/21. More information about Packet Pick-up and ride day will be E-mailed out in the next few days. Thanks!

Ride-Day Schedule (Saturday, February 21, 2015)

Montgomery State Capitol - 600 Dexter Avenue - Montgomery, AL 36104

6:00 am - Check-in opens in Montgomery at the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Legacy Center (455 Washington Avenue, Montgomery)
6:00 am - Turn in your bike for transportation to Selma on Dexter Avenue at the buses near the Alabama State Capitol steps
6:00 am - Enjoy bagel bites and coffee from Chappy's Deli
7:30 am - Check-in closes
7:40 am - Group Picture at the Alabama State Capitol Steps
7:50 am - Begin loading buses for Selma. Pick-up Breakfast box from Chappy's Deli and bottled water or bottled Gatorade for ride to Selma.
8:00 am - Leave for Selma
9:00 am - Arrive at Selma Interpretive Center in Selma - Tour Selma Interpretive Center
9:30 am - Pick-up your bike from transport
9:45 am - Leave Water Street for Edmund Pettus Bridge
9:55 am - Group Picture on Edmund Pettus Bridge
10:00 am - Course opens for cyclists going 51.4 miles from Selma to Montgomery on the Alabama Civil Rights Trail
10:20 am - Rest Stop #1 opens (7.9 miles from start)
11:00 am - Rest Stop #2 opens (13.6 miles from Rest Stop #1 and 21.5 miles from start)
11:30 am - Rest Stop #1 closes
11:45 am - Rest Stop #3 opens (20.2 miles from Rest Stop #2 and 41.7 miles from start)
12:15 pm - Check-Out opens in Montgomery at the Alabama State Capitol steps (9.7 miles from Stop #3 and 51.4 miles from start)
12:15 pm - Finishing Rest Stop opens in Montgomery at the Civil Rights Memorial Center (9.7 miles from Stop #3 and 51.4 miles from start)
1:30 pm - Rest Stop #2 closes
3:45 pm - Rest Stop #3 closes
5:00 pm - Course & Check-out closes (This is a tentative time)
5:30 pm - Emergency contact notifications start for anyone not checked-out

Route maps and cue sheets will be in your registration packet. You can download TCX and GPX files for your Garmin at the links below.

Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510.
Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000 including custom cue entries.

Please be patient. The TCX files take 15-20 seconds to start downloading.



GPX Track (.gpx)

Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail).
Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000, but will not have any custom cues.

Selma 50 Ride Elevation Map

Start Time

The ride will start with a picture at the Capitol steps at 7:40 am. The buses will then be loaded. We will load buses and bikes to head to the Selma Interpretive in Selma at the corner of Broad Street & Water Avenue. We will travel as a group to the Edmund Pettus Bridge for a picture at 9:55 am and group start at 10:00 am.

Showers
Downtown YMCA has kindly offered to let riders use their showers after the ride. Remember that we will be guests at the YMCA. Please be respectful of their facilities and their regular members, and thank them all for the use of their facilities. Your "Shower Pass" is located on the back of your ride rules.
